On August 8, AGENDA Disability Rights Advisor Tolhas Damanik served as a panelist at the ASEAN Prize Talk on “What More ASEAN Can Do to Support Persons with Disabilities”, in commemoration of the 52nd ASEAN Day and the launch of the new ASEAN Secretariat building in Jakarta. In discussing challenges in mainstreaming the rights of persons with disabilities in ASEAN, Mr. Damanik stated that ASEAN and its Member States should work toward a greater understanding of the Masterplan and evaluate their workplans accordingly. In response to questions from the audience, Mr. Damanik also elaborated on strategies for mainstreaming the Masterplan as well as the monitoring and evaluation structure of Masterplan implementation within ASEAN.
