On April 28, CALL Foundation organized an advocacy event with government officials and select state agencies to engage them in the effort to implement the Enabling Masterplan in the Philippines. Government officials include the Undersecretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Hon. Emerito L. Rojas and Representative of the Philippines to the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Social Welfare and Development Hon. Josephine P. Niwane. CALL Foundation also engaged the Assistant Secretaries of Employment and General Administration of the Philippines Department of Labor and Employment, Hon. Leah C. Tanodra-Armamento, and Hon. Dominique Rubia-Tutay. The event was co-facilitated by the National Council on Disability Affairs and CALL Foundation’s intersectional coalition. CALL Foundation presented the joint advocacy and digital advocacy plan in the first session followed by a panel discussing the progress and accomplishments relevant to the mid-term review on the implementation of the Enabling Masterplan. In the afternoon session, three national candidates presented their commitments to three different issues: inclusive education, accessibility, inclusive employment and access to participation and governance. These presentations were followed by an open forum where participants could directly ask questions to the candidates. The live stream of the event can be accessed through CALL Foundation’s Facebook page (link 1 and link 2).
