On February 26, 2015 AGENDA had a media visit to KOMPAS, a leading national print media in Indonesia. AGENDA team was led by AGENDA Disability Rights Advisor and met with HOMPAS Deputy Managing Editor, Head of Political Desk and Head of International Desk. Representatives of AGENDA’s media consultant also attended the media visit.. In the media visit, AGENDA discussed with KOMPAS the importance and significance of an accessible elections, role of media in the agenda setting of persons with disabilities and elections, monitoring an accessible election and provided KOMPAS with highlights of AGENDA Regional Dialogues 1 – 3. The media visit also briefly discussed the implementation of Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Indonesia, its challenges and opportunities and also the challenge that Indonesia still doesn’t have reliable nationwide data and information on disability figure in Indonesia. AGENDA raised the issue on the importance of DPOs and CSOs to promote the rights of persons with disabilities. The media visit also discussed one of the main outputs of AGENDA 3rd Regional Dialogue on Access to Elections that is Jakarta Commitment.
