On 3-4 September, AGENDA’s Disability Rights Adviser acted as one of the speakers at a “Conference on the Inclusion of Persons with disabilities in the Electoral Processes” in Islamabad, Pakistan. Her session is on ‘Electoral Participation of Person with Disabilities, Why Should the Disability Communities Talk About Political Rights?’. In her session she provided a presentation about AGENDA and share her experience with the Pakistani audience where DPOs are currently looking at AGENDA’s approach as a blue print for similar activities in Pakistan. The conference aims to:

  • Developing a deeper understanding among stakeholders of the barriers to electoral participation of persons with disabilities;
  • Securing commitments from public and private sector organizations to support inclusiveness; and
  • Launching organized advocacy efforts to make the laws and rules governing the electoral processes more inclusive.
