On March 31, General Election Network for Disability Access (AGENDA)’s partner in Vietnam, Hanoi Independent Living Center (HILC), conducted a virtual coordination meeting with regional disabled persons organizations (DPOs) to formulate recommendations on providing accessible public transportation and buildings for persons with disabilities. Twenty-seven people, including 11 women, attended the meeting. Recommendations from the meeting include:
- Stakeholders, including government organizations, should consult with persons with disabilities and their organizations when developing, monitoring and evaluating policies on accessible public transportation and buildings;
- All polling stations for general elections should be accessible and well-equipped to accommodate voters with disabilities and;
- Detailed instructions on obtaining driver’s licenses should be provided for persons with disabilities.
