On March 14 and 15, AGENDA organized a workshop on ‘Human Rights Framework in ASEAN and the Enabling Masterplan’ for the Indonesian National Commission on Disability (Komisi Nasional Disabilitas/KND). AGENDA introduced the Enabling Masterplan and its M&E initiative, particularly the self-assessment process facilitated by AGENDA Senior Program Manager Erni Andriani and AGENDA Disability Rights Advisor Tolhas Damanik.

On the first day, Indonesian Representative to ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) H.E. Yuyun Wahyuningrum presented ‘Mainstreaming Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities in ASEAN’ where she explained the role of AICHR in promoting human rights and specifically mainstreaming disability rights through the Enabling Masterplan and ASEAN Vision 2025. A key highlight was when Yuyun Wahyuningrum stated that currently, KND is the one and only national human rights commission focusing on persons with disabilities in ASEAN and could set an excellent example for other ASEAN member states. The participants also learned about the structure of ASEAN and the ASEAN Sectoral Bodies. Participants gained knowledge of the Enabling Masterplan background and critical action points related to human rights and M&E of the Enabling Masterplan on the second day. The participants also learned how to examine, review and fill out the self-reporting form. All commissioners from the KND participated in the workshop. A total of 13 people participated in the workshop, including six women and four persons with disabilities.
