On June 24, AGENDA partner Indonesian Disabled People’s Association (PPDI) recorded a podcast titled “Regulations on the Fulfilment of the Right to Employment for Persons with Disabilities: Between Hope and Reality.” The podcast intends to promote the Enabling Masterplan and discusses the various regulations and policies that support and protect the right to decent work for persons with disabilities such as the 2016 Disability Law, the Law on Disability Service Unit (DSU) and the Job Creation Law. The podcast also aimed to explore solutions to various barriers in the implementation of these policies. PPDI invited four resource persons including Fajri Nursyamsi from the Center for Law and Policy Studies (PSHK), Syamsudin Sar representing PPDI, Myra M. Hanartani from the Association of Indonesian Entrepreneur (APINDO) and Suhardi from the Ministry of Labour. Speakers discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on persons with disabilities in the workplace and considerations around the new Omnibus Law, particularly the chapter on work creation. The podcast is scheduled to be aired on July 5 via PPDI’s YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and website and will be accessible for deaf persons with the use of sign language interpretation.
